Root / Cause
Abdominal Diagnosis / Root being the Cause

Abdominal Palpation: A vital Component in Japanese Style Acupuncture, Diagnosis & Treatment In what we refer to as “abdominal diagnosis” the upper chest and abdomen are palpated and lightly scanned to see if there is any dampness, dryness, cold, heat, resistance, depressions, hardness, indurations, palpitations and pain with pressure.
Abdomen palpation helps the acupuncturist understand with more clarity each patient’s “pattern of diagnosis” and the whether an organ is hot/excess (inflamed), stagnant or cold, deficient and / or weak in nature. By palpating the abdomen an accomplished practitioner can identify which organs are involved with the patients specific condition and understand with more clarity the “Root” of the problem.
Treating the “Root” of the problem is vitally important in Japanese style acupuncture because any symptom is just an outward manifestation of the deeper underlying cause or “Root.”
When an Acupuncturist just puts needles in the area of pain without detailed questioning, pulse and abdominal diagnosis then the treatment is simply a symptomatic treatment and will typically yield only temporary relief because it does not address and treat the deeper “Root” of the problem or illness. The abdomen also gives the practitioner information about past illnesses, information dictating the prognosis for the current illness and can even anticipate future illnesses.
Gently needling the abdomen with either needles shallowly staying in place, or just momentarily contacting the skin is a key component of Byron’s treatments. Dramatic results can be seen right on the table with hard and or painful areas melting away after just a few minutes. Treating the abdomen is also important to a patients level of relaxation and as the abdomen relaxes and energy flow restores, pain will also decrease and sometimes completely resolve before the area of pain is actually treated.
Patients will also comment on organ improvements occurring with improved digestion, increased metabolism, decreased gas and bloating, increased elimination, restoring of regular bowel movements, balanced emotions, better sleep, improved menstrual cycles, alleviation of cramps and PMS, improved energy and vitality.
Japanese style abdominal treatment addresses your “Core” and much more!
